A ten-tent permanent lodge between Tarangire and Lake Manyara, each tent raised on a steel deck with a terrace over the lake and the Great Rift Valley.
Winters Tented Lodge stands at Mbuyu wa Mjerumani on the slope of Mount Mission, three kilometres off the Arusha–Babati road along the Tarangire–Manyara road: 21 km from Tarangire's Sangaiwe Gate, 38 km from its main gate and 38 km from Lake Manyara's Yambi Gate, with Kilimanjaro International about 70 miles away and the Ngorongoro entrance gate about 52 miles. It is a permanent tented lodge of ten tents, each built individually on a raised stainless-steel deck with an en-suite bathroom and a built-in shower. Two of the ten are family tents. Every tent has its own terrace looking out over Lake Manyara and the Great Rift Valley. There is a swimming pool set between the rocks, free WiFi throughout from the main house to the tents, hot water around the clock, and dinner served buffet or plated with traditional, vegetarian and local dishes; dietary requirements are arranged on request beforehand. The lodge is guarded locally and monitored by external CCTV. The name is that of the first, Irish-born, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Mbulu, which owns the lodge along with its sister property, Hhando Coffee Lodge in Karatu.
